Why do patients need spinal procedures?
Usually, a spinal surgery will only be recommended after less invasive methods have failed to resolve the patient’s condition. Spinal procedures can help address low back pain, neck pain, or pain in the limbs and extremities, and these are often the symptoms patients have been experiencing when their doctor recommends spinal surgery.
Most commonly, patients will have some type of disease or disorder in the spine, such as spine cancer, brain cancer, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or a spine deformity, disorder, or infection.
The most common reasons for spinal procedures include:
- Degenerative disc disease
- Scoliosis
- Spinal stenosis
- Spine cancer
- Spine deformity
